Running costs on a motorcycle are always significantly smaller than for a car, running an electric motorcycle makes a lot of sense as the parts always last a lot longer and they are more efficient than their petrol cousins. Depending on how you drive, the cost per mile traveled can be brought down to only a few cents per mile!

The answer to this question depends on how often you drive the vehicle. In order to maximize the life of your battery, it's reccomeded to recharge the batteries whenever they falls below 40% charge. The batteries used in this electric motorcyle could be recharged a whopping 2000+ times! DO NOT let the batteries remain dead for longer than 3 weeks striaght for this could result in permanet damage to the power source.

The initial cost of each electric motorcycle obviously changes widely on model. Our motorcycle is being modeled with price in mind, because we want to make sure that this vehicle is within a reasonable price point if we were to market it in the future. A general trend in the electric vehicle indutry is that they usually cost more than petrol motorcycles or scooters, but the extra cost of purchase is often quickly recouped by maintenance savings and fuel savings.

The goal we are trying to achive is to construct an electric motorcycle with a long enough range for everyday trips. According to the US Department of Transportation, the average ‘driver’ travels about 13,476 miles per year. That breaks down to roughly 37 miles on average per day. As a group, we are putting in a great deal of effort to make sure the range on our motorcycle can pass this number by a long shot. There are many factors that determine a vehivcles range, but our motorcycle will be constructed with this goal in mind to make sure it can achive a long enough range for practical uses. This means that we will have to overcome the 37 mile range on a full charge.
